I experimented with pixelating last year and found that it is a really effective way to bring the feature of the mosaic to the foreground whilst blurring the background as in the photo of the lotus flower above. This method can also be quite effective when used on the whole mosaic as in “A few ducks loose in the top paddy”.
In this two day workshop you will be working from a photo in the direct method onto a temporary backing. This method is suitable for stained glass and smalti. At this workshop you will gain an understanding of tone and learn the most effective way to cut and place your glass to achieve a softened, more muted effect. Those new to my workshops will go home with many new tips and tricks that will bring your mosaics to a higher level. This workshop is suitable for people with a medium skill level wishing to learn a new technique .
Cost: $340 including materials, lunch, morning and afternoon tea.
