Pixelating the Impressionists – A two day workshop with Deanna Kernick

When: Thursday 18th and Friday 19th July 2024
Time: 10am to 4pm
Where: Mosaics by Design Studio, Blackwood, South Australia

I have found this mosaic process to be the most relaxing and therapeutic way to mosaic. Negative thoughts are replaced by the process of making. There are only thoughts of what size, shape, colour or texture your tesserae might be. At this 2 day course you will recreate a Monet or Van Gogh in pixels. Immerse yourself and marvel at the brush strokes and use of colour of the Masters. Landscapes are ideal for this style of mosaic.

At this two day workshop you will be working from a photo directly onto a temporary backing. Students will be working on a small piece approximately 20cm x 20cm. You will be given detailed notes as well as a demonstration on how to transfer your mosaic to a permanent substrate. This workshop is suitable for all skill levels.

Cost: $400 includes all materials, tea, coffee and morning tea. BYO tools and lunch. To secure a spot in this workshop, a non-refundable deposit of $50 is required. (A 10% discount applies to current students).

South Australian Artist, Deanna Kernick started up her business Mosaics by Design in 2000. Since then she has created countless mosaic murals for private and corporate clients throughout Australia.

As well as creating mosaics, Deanna has a passion for teaching. Her realistic floral mosaic designs have become widely popular with students wanting to learn and improve their skills.
